Caring for People God's WayHi folks-
Becky Thomason MTS, CC has graciously agreed to facilitate our counselor and advocate training! We will each complete the course work on “Caring for People God’s Way” developed by the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). Certificates for those who choose certified training will be issued by AACC upon completion of course work.
Our Facilitator: Rebecca “Becky” Thomason is a WV coalfield native who has lived in the Charlotte area for 20 years.  She was raised in a Christian family and came to know the Lord at a young age.  Although she has a B.S. degree in Business Administration God called her many years later to pursue an education in Christian Counseling.  After earning her Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling through Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte in 2000, she has served in church counseling ministries and has established and led numerous lay counselor trainings. We are thrilled to have Becky facilitate our training!

Pre-registration with KDM is required and volunteer application must be on file. Those interested may contact our office at 704-263-4204 to obtain a volunteer application. This training is required for all KDM board members, program board members, staff, and volunteers.

Course Description:
Caring for People God’s Way presents Christian counseling in a systematic, step-by-step manner that outlines the process as practically as possible. It then applies the process to the most common issues faced by Christian counselors: personal and emotional issues, trauma, grief, loss, and suicide.

Session Dates/Times:
12 Sessions in 2 hour blocks two times per week for 6 weeks

August 13th through September 20th

Choose M/W afternoon Sessions or T/Th evening sessions
AFTERNOON SESSIONS: Mondays and Wednesdays 1pm – 3pm
EVENING SESSIONS: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm – 8pm
(Missed class on Monday afternoon can be made up on Tuesday evening; Missed class on Wednesday afternoon can be made up on Thursday evening; other make up sessions TBD)

Where: The ministry office at 357 N. Main St. in Stanley.

This training is required for all KDM board members, program board members, staff, and volunteers. There are two options: Certified Training and Uncertified Training

Certified Training: You will need to register with AACC in advance of training. Cost is $165 and includes workbook, tests, and certificate from AACC Light University . The King’s Daughters Ministry will reimburse 50% of cost after 100 hours of logged volunteer or employment service. To obtain course materials, please call AACC directly at 1-800-526-8673 and give them the facilitator’s name: Becky Thomason. It takes 7-10 days to receive materials.

Uncertified Training: No cost. You will attend and participate in sessions but no workbook or certificate will be issued.
