Dear Ministry Partners and Friends,

It is with great joy that we celebrate an amazing year for The King’s Daughter’s Ministry. We take time to slow down and embrace the reason for our Hope, Jesus Christ. He has drawn near to us to seek and save all those who are lost. Our mandate as a ministry is to seek out troubled and hurting women and bring them face to face with this King who saves.

Beautiful common room at the Emerald House

There have been huge changes and progress with The King’s Daughters over the months since we last corresponded. In October we opened ourEmerald House for two adult residents ages 18-30 and are accepting applications for the residency program. We also moved our headquarters to a more functional location in the former Blue Ridge Savings Bank located at 357 N. Main Street in Stanley, NC. This facility has also become known as the CASTLE which is an acronym for the use of the space: Counseling, Administration, Spiritual Development, T (for the Cross of Christ which is central to all we do), Life Skills and Education. Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our open house at our new location in September.

The CASTLE will be hosting a winter session of the Counselor and Advocate Training that will begin in January.  We were excited to train 18 individuals from 10 different churches in our first session of training this summer. If you are interested in taking part please contact our office by phone or email at becky@kdmonline.org for more information.

"Baby" the ministries new therapy dog.

We are thrilled to announce that we have a new four legged member of the King’s Daughters family! We were gifted with a therapy dog from the Blackhawk Canine Services in Atascosa, TX. “Baby” is a three year old female chocolate lab. She is a gentle dog who will no doubt be a huge blessing to our residents in the coming years. Currently she can be found at our offices or behind the counter at the Penny Thrift store and always by the side of our ministry President, Sheryl Dorsey.

God has shown Himself faithful through the generous involvement of our community. Thank you to the folks at Park Sterling Bank (formerly Citizens South) in Stanley for decorating a tree with ornaments representing our needs list.  Members of the community have been graciously donating items for the past few weeks and we have been blessed by these gifts.   We are also incredibly grateful to those in attendance at the community wide Thanksgiving service here in Stanley. Your gifts raised $1258.93 to help change the lives of hurting and troubled women through our residency program. Thank you to the United Churches of Stanley for supporting The King’s Daughters Ministry and your decision to make this vital ministry the beneficiary of this year’s offering

In February we hope you will join us for a celebration! February marks the two year anniversary of the ministry and the one year anniversary of the opening of the Penny Thrift store. These are enormous milestones and we want you to help us celebrate! On Saturday, February 9th, in honor of these anniversaries, we are throwing another penny bag sale. Join us for some great deals and a time of joy over how God has blessed the ministry these past two years!

As we move into the New Year we do so expectantly. We are currently raising funds to purchase a shelter for single women and are seeking to find an additional shelter for women with children.  Perhaps you can’t donate financially at this time. We hope that you will think outside of the box about how you can be involved in God’s work at the King’s Daughters. We are in need of a piece(s) of property, land or house(s) that could be used for shelters. We would be humbled to have someone donate land or a house that could meet this need. Perhaps you have time and would like to volunteer at the Penny Thrift store. Your generosity has enabled us to accomplish amazing things these past two years, but there is much work to be done and we need more people to come alongside us with their gifts, talents, resources, and finances.

We cannot close this letter without extending thanks to our faithful ministry partners. Your continued support is the life blood of this ministry and we stand in awe of your consistent financial gifts. A complete list of ministry partners can be found on our website. We are still seeking 127 more Emerald House ministry partners at $55 a month to meet our goal. Please consider how God might lead you to bless His work among hurting women.

The baby in a manger is only the beginning of the story. The story spans the next three decades of Jesus’ life and reaches into eternity. He was born to die so that we might experience freedom. We are reaching out to women in need of healing so that they might experience freedom, in Christ, now and forever. Thank you for being a part of the work at The King’s Daughters Ministry. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope that the New Year finds you treasuring Christ as the ultimate gift.

Merry Christmas,

Board of Directors
