The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave
Freedom is sometimes taken for granted by those who have it, and not hoped for by those who need it. Jesus tells us in God’s Word, “If the Son sets you free you are free indeed.” (John 8:36)
America’s founders worked tirelessly to ensure that we have the rights and freedoms outlined in the Constitution. Many brave men and women have given their all to ensure we live in a free country, and many more risk their lives daily to protect that freedom. The foundation for it all lies in the truths of God’s Word. A story of a loving God, who gave His only Son to die on a cruel cross for the sins of mankind, and raised Him again on the third day so that we could live free and eternally. (John 3:16)
We all know that person (or maybe it’s you) who lives their life captive. Whether it is a physical prison, emotional darkness, or a spiritual void; God has made a way where there seems to be no way (Is. 43:19). The world is full of hurting people who are bound by fear, worry, and doubt; who are held back from their lives by physical sickness, physical abuse, or substance abuse. BUT, we have HOPE that we can live free and be brave through Jesus Christ. (Hebrew 6:19)
I am blessed to be a part of the King’s Daughters Ministry. I see God move mighty in the lives of young women and their children to restore Hope, repair brokenness, and work on His plans for their lives (Jer. 29:11). I watch in wonder at times as God transforms lives from ashes to beauty, mourning to joy, heaviness to praise in the lives of His children (Is. 61:3). When we surrender to Him, He reveals himself to us all as the loving Father we all need to know ( 2 Cor. 6:18).
One of my absolute favorite verses from God’s Word comes from a man bound in prison. In Jeremiah 33, the Lord spoke to Jeremiah with these encouraging words, “Call unto Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you know not” (Jer. 33:3). God goes on to promise healing, a cure, and freedom from captivity. For over ten years I have stood on this verse and seen God move mighty for me and my family. I know I can call and God will answer me and will show me great and mighty things. He will do the same for you and your loved ones, if you will accept the freedom He has provided through His son, Jesus Christ.
He also gives us His Word that we can be brave in Him (Is. 41:10). God wants to walk beside you through your trials and lead you safely home someday to live eternally. Until then celebrate the Freedom we have in America. Honor those who fight for it, and Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.(Mark 12:30)
